I decided to head up to Rocky Mountain during our first major storm of 2023. As I headed into the forest I decided I was going to embark on a 9 alpine lake, 20 mile hike that turned out to take me 10 1/2 hours to complete. The third lake in on the loop was Dream Lake, one of the most popular lakes in the entire park. I have been coming here for almost 20 years but I still feel like I see this lake in new dimensions every single time. I found a small area of the lake that was still unfrozen and placed my tripod in the water to get this shot. I have hundreds of images of this lake and this is probably my favorite that I have ever taken of this amazing Colorado icon.
