My last couple of winters have been spent largely chasing snow storms and ice sculptures in the alpine lakes of Colorado. I love doing this because every single year the formations of the snow and ice change shapes in ways that are different every year and will never happen again in the same exact way. When I was walking around a frozen lake on this particular day I saw a few shapes like this one that were very intriguing and totally different than that which I have captured before. This shape looked like an alien face to me and I loved the intricacies of this ice sculpture.
