Mount Taranaki is an absolute marvel to see in person.  It sits in the middle of the city on the north island of New Zealand  and can be seen from any direction in the city.  We trekked through the forest a couple hours before sunset and came up to the ridge to see Mount Taranaki in all its glory before the sun went down on the island.  The lights and shadows danced beautifully on the volcano in the distance while the foliage around us added to the gorgeous sunset.
