Explosion in the Ocean

When we woke up at Stirling Point the weather and the waves were moody that day. The waves were crashing against the rock in a violent matter and I decided to capture the wave just as it was exploding against the dramatic backdrop of the ocean and lighthouse. I wanted to give this image a Lord of the Rings feel to it so I edited this with a very drastic contrast. The color version of this photo won best of show in photography in the 73rd Annual Gilpin County Arts Show.
