I try to make the trek up to Lone Eagle Peak every couple of years because it’s one of the most unique peaks in Colorado and it’s a wonderful but challenging 14 mile hike. Back in 2024 I hiked up to the peak through a lightning storm relishing the cover of the forest through the wet, soppy rain I endured for hours. When I got up to the lake it was still raining and windy and I thought my photography opportunities were numbered until the calm of the storm finally hit. The lake slowed down and the moody clouds added a wonderful serenity to this moody scene.
